Here’s a rhetorical question: When you’re shopping, how likely are you to ask store employees questions about things you’re considering buying?

Also, how likely are you to use your cell phone to look up information?

As you probably know, that’s extremely common nowadays. Since our cell phones can access the internet pretty much anytime from anywhere, information is right at our fingertips. Because of it, online reviews and product descriptions are easy to find, and super helpful. And so are videos…

With that in mind, engineers figuring out how to give shoppers what they want instantly while in stores has been brilliant. Not only do shoppers appreciate the convenience, but they also appreciate the information coming from manufacturers and other consumers in reviews.

So, here’s the next question: How likely are you to trust a store clerk over a video from a manufacturer? Not that store clerks are dishonest or completely unreliable. However, being realistic, manufacturers usually know how to explain their products better than most retail salespeople. They’re also more knowledgeable, and their expertise is critical to their success.

At the same time, reviews from other consumers are just as helpful—if not more—and they make a huge impact, right? I know I rely on them heavily, and I know many others who do the same… And when I can watch videos to learn about products, services or opportunities, I like them even more.
